Your brain mesmerizes. This world you are creating... you must have a nib already. And this: Meela is part of me and yet she’s not me. Is she the ghost in the machine, or am I the ghost in the machine?
I'm catching the remote notes of "Ex Machina" (wow, was that really 2014???) but much more grounded in nature. It took me a beat to realize that Meela is not an embodied intelligence, really fascinating...
Since Magdalena ran off into the forest, I think it is an apt metaphor. First episode felt like entering the forest, the outskirts, new features, species, things to see. This episode feels like the forest is becoming denser. I'm wondering: if this amazing AI/human interface is the weeds/world-building/exposition, how deep and dense will we be getting??? Definitely curious. Well Henri be coming back? I liked them.
I wanted so much of the action in this book to happen in a natural setting because I hoped it would ground the story and show that the technology, regardless of how complex, is just a natural extension of what came before. And yes, Henri will have a larger part to play. Thanks so much for reading and engaging Troy!
Yes, empathy...at some point in reaching "higher" goals, empathy is pushed aside to make it easier to step over the bodies, er...baggage getting in the way.

Thanks, Kimberly. You're too kind. I appreciate your feedback.

Interesting, I wonder if that’s some thing I need to make more clear somehow.
No, I think I brought the assumption in with me from the start that she was going to be an android...

“She has taken over that part of me that cannot stop.”
I need someone for this, please and thank you.
Ha! It won’t be much longer and you’ll be able to have that. Careful what you wish for 😜
