Just had some time to listen to your live session. Thanks for sharing a bit of yourself with us. It's quite fascinating to get a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes, how you write and create your stories. Good luck with the serialization.

Thank you for being here for it, Claudia.

Wow, what a teaser!! The themes are exciting and compelling. I can already tell this will be another page-turner that raises big questions while it also entertains. (I'll come back after I've listened to you read the chapter.) I have to ask - is "Daedalia" the feminine of "Daedalus"? If so - hellya!!

OMG that's a banger, Ben. What unique, fascinating characters. I can't wait to read their story here, and get back into that lovely weekly rhythm of a new chapter. I'm thrilled that you're plunging in again soon!

Thanks, Julie! I'm getting close the the end. Normally I would have pulled the trigger months ago and started serializing, but I've just been having feelings about it this time around. It's a ton of work and part of me can't help but feel like me giving all these books away will pretty much make me untouchable by any traditional publisher. And yes! You're right, Daedalia is definitely derived from Daedalus.

We gotta TALK sometime!! Daedalus was an architect, among other things . . . And a symbol of wisdom, knowledge and power. (I'm a fan, if you can't tell.)

Wow, another novel with big themes. You keep knocking them out.

I think most writers, and aspiring writers, would envy your ability to tell a story and develop unique characters without umpteenth editing rounds. The richness and maturity of your writing and ideas, and what makes it to the page, is extraordinary.

Yep, the crickets for most people with a Substack is depressing, especially for fiction.

Whether you serialize or put out a novel, I'll read it, of course.

Hi Caz, it's been while. So good to hear from you. Thank you for the generous words I'm not sure I deserve. I'm so glad the themes in the new book are intriguing to you. I hope to deliver on them.

Love the title, and love even more that you know when to extract yourself from the noise and tend your inner fire. Looking forward to reading this Ben, as I do with every one of your books!

Thank you, Kimberly and yes, I reach a point where getting into the woods is the only thing that works.

So intriguing!! Thank you, Ben, for sharing the replay since I missed the Live—I am excited for your new novel, and to get to know another set of your incredible characters. I love the speculative element in your stories, and as I’m married to a visual artist I am very interested in the issues you are exploring here!! Yay, yay, can’t wait! (But I will wait as long as you need to be ready for us to dig in 😊)

Hi, Robin! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I’ll keep at it.

It was fun to get a preview, Ben. Watching how you keep building this body of work--one walk at a time--gives hope to those of us who try to make space for our passion projects in the midst of so many other demands. I know Daedalia is going to be a weekly pleasure!

Thank you, Ann and thank you for your presence and great questions.

Sorry I missed the live reading. Only saw the announcement this morning (my Sunday morning) but it would have been too late for me anyway, unfortunately. Still, watched this afternoon and really enjoyed hearing about how you're doing, and thank you for the beautiful views!

The first chapter of Daedalia did a great job of leaving me wanting to know more. Should you decide to serialise it, I can't wait to read the rest!

I agree that having a chapter a week is a great way to slow down the reading and give the characters and the story time to sink in.

Anyway, great to see you again, Ben, and looking forward to more of Daedalia.

Hi Sara, glad you were able to catch it on the replay and I’m so happy this first chapter left you wanting more. Thanks for the kind words and continued support of my work.
