Harmony House: Episode 34 - The four remaining contestants try to escape Houze while the Jenson brothers and Eve find a surprise at the command center.
Iām still really loving the audio version, Ben. Itās wild how youāre playing every part in this drama, yet all of the characters feel so distinct and unique to me. And when the theme song comes on, Iām conditioned in the same Pavlovian way one might feel about a favorite television series. Itās like oh yeahāLetās Go!!! š
Thanks so much, Ann! Voicing these characters each week has been both challenging and something I look forward to, so Iām glad itās working for you.
Oh, Iām fully aware of my massive contradictions! The way I see it, Iām providing a service. Microdose LLMs now to inoculate you for the AI apocalypse!
You make apocalypse-by-AI seem all too plausible Ben. Iām riding a buggy back to the 1800āsā¦hope to see you and the Substack gang there with quill pens and blotting paper.
And the reaction from Scott!! Haha. Often I can find people's reactions in books a little unrealistic, but this was bang on perfect! All kinds of fuck-level appropriate reaction from Scott. ššš
The crescendo to the finish is real, Ben! I can feel it.
Itās true, my love affair with the F-bomb is no longer a secret. According to someone whose stack I read yesterday, using profanity makes me an amateur writer. On the upside, my books will never be optioned by Disney!
I find that such BS. Listen to your average conversation and the f bomb is everywhere. If you're going for realism in our society, then you can afford to slide in some Fs. Some people use it for deliberate effect and it fails, but when used in a genuine response (as per Scott) then it totally works.
Yikes!! Another great episode! When Jayden got sleepy, I had the thought that they were in danger. With the systems shut down and no air circulation, not a good situation. But Iām nervous now because surely Fitzgerald knows Scott logged in at the command center, etc. the clock is ticking!! Classic thriller move. š
I have to ask - how *fun* was it to say the f-word a bunch of times for the audio? š
I confess, I have an undying love for the word. As I was typesetting "The Memory of My Shadow" I saw just how many times I used it - the count was 118. It is a satisfying word.
Ugh, if Fitzpatrick kills Jayden Iām never using ChatGPT again š”
All will be revealed next week! Believe it or not, my aim was not to test the resolve of the queen of death and birds. š
Haha, sometimes I wonder, Ben! Sometimes I wonderā¦

It is a little ironic that you're encouraging us to give AI a looksee but both of your last two books feature evil AIs, Ben... š Great episode!

Thanks Kim, my next book will be about the perils of parchment and quills. Bird flu!
I knew it was going to end before we knew the fate of the four in the house. And still I was like, how can I wait a week?! Brilliant as ever!
Thanks Holly!
Hoooooo boy! Sheeeet. Things getting serious.
You delivered that part with Jayden so perfectly.

You'll get a kick out of the note I just posted! I have managed to break AI down. It's given up trying to fix my foul mouth.
This keeps getting curiouser and curiouser...
You've got me engaged.
Thanks Chip! Glad youāre engaged. Weāre almost to the end of my tale.
